Jeffrey Remedios on the Sam The Record Man sign:
October 7th, 2013
“I write you with concern over the future of the Sam the Record Man sign and it’s rightful return to public display.
For decades Sam the Record Man’s flagship Toronto Younge St. store held a place at the epicentre of our music community. There wasn’t a boxing day my entire teenage life not spent scouring their racks to take advantage of their holiday sales.
Sam’s massive neon spinning disc sign is an icon of our city’s cultural history, a remembrance of the rich musical heritage we proudly cherish.
I encourage you to ensure the sign is restored, maintained and displayed in public – ideally in it’s original location as agreed by Ryerson University – to the benefit of our cities residents and tourists.”- Jeffery Remedios
